Access and the ECAN to Hold “Be Homeful” Paddington Bear GoFundMe Campaign Event for the Global #GivingTuesday Movement

Now through December 3, 2019, Access Community
Action Agency and the Eastern Coordinated Access
Network (ECAN) are accepting donations for its
fundraising project in the “Be Homeful” campaign , a
program of the Connecticut Coalition to End
Homelessness (CCEH), for #Giving Tuesday. Access
and the ECAN, a network of Emergency Shelters in
Eastern CT, has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day
of giving that harnesses the collective power of
individuals, communities and organizations to
encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity

Occurring this year on December 3, #GivingTuesday
is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving
(in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping
events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick-off the holiday giving season and inspire people to
collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities
and causes they support.
Now through mid-December, a gift will make an extra impact as our friends at the CT REALTORS®
Foundation will match the first 2,000 donations of $25 or more by gifting a Paddington™ plush
bear to a child in or at the front door of family emergency shelters. $1,000 is the average amount
required to prevent a family from becoming homeless, so for every $1K raised, you will help a
family with young children stay in the comfort of home. That means for every 40 bears you “raise”,
at least one family will never have to know the hardship of homelessness.
Please help a family in need by donating or starting your own “ bear-raiser ” #GivingBearsDay.  Your
gift can make all the difference! This online fundraiser allows nonprofit organizations like Access to
raise funds online to end family homelessness in Northeastern Connecticut. Those who are

92Y − a cultural center in New York City that, since 1874, has been bringing people together

2015, the fourth year of the movement, #GivingTuesday brought together over 45,000 partners in
71 countries and helped raise nearly $117 Million online in the US alone.
“We have been incredibly inspired by the generosity in time, efforts and ideas that have brought
our concept for a worldwide movement into reality,” said Henry Timms, founder of #GivingTuesday
