Jewett City Savings Bank Grants Over $18,500 to Local Food Pantries

JEWETT CITY SAVINGS BANK GRANTS
OVER $18,500 TO LOCAL FOOD PANTRIES

JEWETT CITY, CONNECTICUT, November 25, 2024… The Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation
has awarded grants totaling $18,500 to seven local food pantries within the Bank’s service area.
Saint Mary Food Pantry in Jewett City received a $3,000 grant and Project Pin Food Pantry in Moosup
received $2,500 to assist with food purchases.
The Thompson Ecumenical Empowerment Group, Inc. (TEEG) received $2,500 to support the standalone
food markets in Thompson, Pomfret, and Woodstock, Connecticut. TEEG was also awarded
$1,000 in recognition of Jewett City Savings Bank’s former Director, David Panteleakos.
Interfaith Human Services of Putnam received $2,500 to support the Daily Bread Food Pantry and
Diaper Bank of NECT. Interfaith Human Services also received an additional $1,000 in recognition of
Panteleakos.
The Friends of Assisi Food Pantry in Danielson received a grant of $1,500 for diapers, wipes and pantry
supplies, along with an additional $2,000 in recognition of Jewett City Savings Bank’s former Chairman,
Gary Peloquin.
$1,500 was awarded to the Jonnycake Center of Westerly, which will be used to stock the shelves of the
food pantry. The Preston City Congregational Church was granted $1,000 to support their food pantry.
“We are proud to support our local food pantries, helping ensure that no one in our community has to
go hungry, especially during times of need.” said Michael Alberts, President of the Jewett City Savings
Bank Foundation.
The Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation, established by the Bank to strengthen and support the
communities it serves, has awarded over $1,370,000 to local organizations since its first grants were
awarded in 2004. This year, the Foundation awarded 83 grants totaling $116,408 to a variety of
community-focused organizations.
