Winter Art Show & Sale Featuring Local Artists
Now thru end of December at the Center, 218 Day Rd in Pomfret
Come feast your eyes on the talents of three local Connecticut artists: Avian Watercolorist David Stumpo; Wildlife Photographer Nancy Barrett; “Becorns”
creator and Photographer David Bird. There will be a variety of artwork and cards for purchase with holiday gift-giving in mind. Free admission.

Holiday Nature Store
Open now thru December 20 at the Center, 218 Day Rd in Pomfret
Monday thru Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from Noon to 4 p.m.
Gifts for all ages with Mother Nature in mind. We’ll have bird feeders & houses, suet, gardening gifts, nature books, children’s books and games, puzzles, field
guides, freshly cut trees, holiday decorations, freshly made evergreen swags, works by local artists, jewelry and much more. Stock changes daily.

Meteor Shower Watch/Hike
Friday, December 13 at 7 p.m. (Rain/snow date Dec. 14)
Hike one mile to the scenic vista on Bull Hill. The Geminid meteor shower should be good, since there will very little moon showing. Meet at the Center, 218 Day
Rd in Pomfret, and carpool. Bring a lightweight chair if you like. Fee: $5 CAS members; $10 non-members.
Monday Morning Walks
December 2 thru 30 at 8:30 a.m.
Stretch your legs, breathe in the early morning air and look for signs of wildlife on the sanctuary with Fran and Nate – longtime volunteers, trackers and nature
photographers. Bring your camera if you are so inclined. Meet at the Center, 218 Day Rd in Pomfret. Free to CAS members; $5 non-members.

Monthly Bird Walk
Friday, December 27 at 1 p.m.
Come out in search of wintering bird species. We’ll look for horned larks, ducks, hawks, sparrows, yellow-bellied sapsuckers and more. Meet at the Center, 218
Day Rd in Pomfret. Fee: $5 CAS members; $10 non-members.

Owl Walk
Saturday, December 21 at 7 p.m.
Join us in search of wintering owls. We’ll attempt to find screech, barred, and great-horned owls. Most of the calling is done from the road. Meet at the Center,
218 Day Rd in Pomfret. (No program if rain, snow or high winds). Fee: $5 CAS members; $10 non-members.

Citizen Science Volunteer Monitoring Program:
Introductory Winter Tracking Hike
Saturday, December 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Bafflin Sanctuary
Winter is a great time to find track and sign of fisher, river otter, mink, fox, bobcat, coyote and more in snow covered forests and fields. We’re looking for
adults who want to become trained trackers and monitor sites in Willington, Canterbury, Bethany and Woodstock. Document sightings to support local

Friday Afternoon Walks
December 6 thru 27 at 1 p.m.
Join plant enthusiast Anne Christie and nature photographer Amy Porter at Trail Wood, 93 Kenyon Rd in Hampton, for a leisurely walk on the trails. We’ll see
what’s of interest and share tips on how to get good nature shots. Bring your camera if you are so inclined. All ages welcome. (Inclement weather will cancel.)
Free to CAS members; $3 non-members.

Winter Solstice Celebration
Saturday, December 21 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Join us at Trail Wood, 93 Kenyon Rd in Hampton, to celebrate the beginning of the sun’s return. Hot cider and chili by the fire. Stargazing with clear skies
