Access Community Action Agency Receives Funding
for Transforming 254 Broad Street Project

Access Community Action Agency received funding for its 254 Broad Street project in Danielson CT. Transforming 254 Broad Street is a new initiative that when completed will include additional program offices for Access, expanded food pantry and homeless prevention day services, renovated Cold Weather Overnight Shelter space, a permanent home for Access’s Housing Education and Counseling Center as well as the Killingly Community Store.

Through the critical support of Senator Mae Flexer, Access was included on the state’s Bonding Commission agenda of October 25th. “This is a significant start to getting us towards

the full renovation cost to convert our church building at 254 Broad St. Danielson to program offices and expanded services in the Killingly-Danielson region,” said President/CEO Peter DeBiasi. “We would not have received this funding without the support of Senator Flexer. Our sincere thanks go
out to her”.

Access hosted Senator Chris Murphy and Representative Joe Courtney, along with other state and local leaders including Senator Flexer earlier this fall. “We want to bring attention not just
to our project but also to the important and transformational changes that we hope to see happen in northeastern CT”. “Transforming 254 Broad Street will make a difference for the
entire region”, said DeBiasi. Invitees toured the existing admin offices and food pantry and then were treated to a tour of the 254 Broad Street campus including Access’s Emergency Shelter
and new Mobile Food Truck.

Access Community Action Agency is designated by the federal and state government as the anti-poverty agency in northeast Connecticut. Access provides food, affordable housing, job
readiness services, and other pathways to economic self-reliance for vulnerable limited-income families and individuals throughout the region. Learn more about Access by visiting https://accessagency.org/
